Senior Week 2019
Senior Week is a final opportunity for members of the graduating class to spend time together socializing, recalling memories of their experience at the College, celebrating their individual and collective achievements and looking forward to the challenges that await them after Commencement.
A Letter from the Class of 2019 Senior Week Committee Chairs
Hey Class of 2019!
My name is Nifemi Olugbemiga and I am the Senior Week 2019 Chair! For those who may not know me, I am a Posse scholar from Chicago. I am a double major in Africana Studies and Psychology. I am also an intern for CCSRE and the manager for the Academic Resource Center. This class is very important to my experience here at Connecticut College, which is why I am so thrilled to play a part alongside my Co-chair Bempa and all of the amazing committee members in planning your senior week.
My name is Bempa Ashia and I am the Senior Week 2019 Co-Chair! A little about me: I am from the Bronx, New York. At Conn, I am a computer science major with an art minor and a part of the Ammerman Center for Arts and Technology. I am a part of the Science Leaders Program and the Computer Science Leaders Program. Apart from academics, I am a First Generation Student Ambassador for Race and Ethnicity Programs at Unity House and a West African co-choreographer (with Nifemi) for Eclipse. I am very excited to work with Nifemi and the other committee members to ensure that this year’s Senior Week is amazing!
As your chair and co-chair, we have been tasked with the amazing privilege to plan what will be your final hurrah here at Connecticut College together. And that it is something to remember as you embark on the newest chapter of your lives. We hope that Connecticut College has been the grounds in which your roots have all connected and the place that has watered your individual seeds to bear fruits that you will be tasked with sharing with the world. And with that, the theme for Senior Week 2019 is, Roots: From Seeds to Fruits. This theme will be used to plan all the wonderful events we have in store for you all. Dulcie Everitt and the Day Away squad, are looking forward to kicking off the start to Senior week with an evening of safe, responsible litty-ness off campus. Rosalinda Pineda and the Lily Pad Committee will follow with a memorable evening in the Arboretum. You all will then experience Night of Nights headed by Shyanne Temple and her amazing committee, who are tasks with hosting your final class only party, where you can dance and have safe fun like there is no tomorrow. Lexi Rauth is working hard with her committee to plan a delicious All Campus Lunch and Senior Toast where you will hear from a speaker of your choosing. Make sure to keep an eye out for an email with your speaker nomination information! Also, Bempa and I will be coordinating your Senior Formal, a classy evening off-campus filled with dinner, dancing, and more!
Senior Week 2019 will be packed with memorable events on and off campus. We hope that you finish out your last semester strong and are looking forward to experiencing your very own Senior Week!
