Facilities management and campus planning provide in-house budgeting, design and management services for renovations and capital improvements. The team includes internal project team members as well as external architects, engineers, landscape design and many more. A primary goal for facilities management and campus planning is to remove the silos on campus and forge new paths using strategic integrated planning strategies. Whether it is capital projects, donor funded initiatives or internal project requests, the team is committed to aligning with the master plan and assisting the community in outlining and achieving the long term direction of Connecticut College.

Strengthening our already exemplary career program was a major priority of the , which called for situating career advising within Connections and bringing the Hale Center for Career Development to central campus. During the development of the new Campus Master Plan, several locations were discussed to achieve this objective. As the plan came together, it became apparent that the space on the first floor of Fanning formerly occupied by the and would be an ideal home for the career office. Thanks to a generous donation from a trustee, this project was completed Fall 2019.

The revitalized Athey Center promotes pioneering artistic production and research, attracts world-renowned artists-in-residence, fosters cross-disciplinary teaching and scholarship and helps to advance the work of Connections, Conn’s reinvention of liberal arts education. The renovated Athey Center ensures that the arts remain central to Conn’s liberal arts experience, a tradition that has earned the College’s arts programs national and international prominence.

Revitalized Waterfront

Waterfront Revitalization Project

On Oct. 21 the College officially opened its revitalized waterfront. The revitalized waterfront provides a first-rate athletic facility for the sailing and rowing programs, an outdoor classroom and living laboratory for marine science, environmental research and conservation, an expedition training area for Conn’s Outdoor Adventures program, and a vibrant recreational space for students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members.

Summer 2022

Home to the Departments of Human Development and Education, Bolles House received major upgrades this summer. The project is nearing completion, and you can see landscaping and parking lot improvements along with a new fire escape and sidewalk. The House underwent a transformation with a new roof, new flooring, painting and new classroom furniture.
