All Americans: Runners Malissa Lindsey ’23 and Jeffrey Love ’23 turn in top-10 performances at NCAA Championships

It was an All-American weekend for two Camel athletes, as sprinter Malissa Lindsey ’23 notched two top-three finishes at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Geneva, Ohio, while No. 20-ranked Jeffrey Love ’23 turned in an 8th place finish in the 10k. All three performances earned All-America honors.

Lindsey was crowned national runner-up in the 100-meter race on Saturday with a personal best time of 11.60. Then, just one hour later, Lindsey finished third in the 200-meter in another personal best time of 23.89. Both times set new Conn records.

Lindsey’s double All-American finish capped off a remarkable season that included NESCAC Champion titles in both events, as well as a New England title in the 100-meter. Earlier this month, Lindsey was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mideast Region Track Athlete of the Year.

Love entered the men’s 10,000-meter event as the 20th seed, but performed well beyond expectations in the premiere and final event on Thursday. The junior stayed near the front of the pack for the majority of the race and was ultimately able to hold off other competitors for an eighth-place finish, crossing the line in 30:37.78.

This is Love’s second time being honored as an All-American; in 2020 he was named an All American by USTFCCCA after qualifying for the 2020 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in the 3,000-meter. Love was seeded 19th overall for the national event, which was abruptly canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
