Conn alumna to appear on PBS series

Arien Mack ’51, a psychology professor at The New School for Social Research, will be featured on “Academics in the Crosshairs,” an upcoming episode of The Open Mind, a PBS weekly series, hosted by Alexander Heffner, that explores “the world of ideas across politics, media, technology, the arts and all realms of civic life.”

Mack is the founder of the New University in Exile Consortium, of which Conn is a founding member. Established in 2018 by The New School for Social Research, the consortium is united by the belief that the academic community has both the responsibility and capacity to assist persecuted and endangered scholars everywhere, and to protect the intellectual capital that is jeopardized when universities and scholars are under assault.

Currently, Conn is hosting Binalakshmi “Bina” Nepram, a humanitarian and peace advocate from Manipur, India.

Read more about the episode, which airs in June.
