Forbes names three Conn alumni to its annual 30 Under 30 list

Jazmine Hughes '12, Aditi Juneja '12 and Emily Callahan '11 have been named to Forbes 30 Under 30, an annual "encyclopedia of creative disruption featuring 600 young stars in 20 different industries," wrote Forbes staff writer Caroline Howard. The three Conn alumni feature in the media, law and policy, and energy industries.

Jazmine Hughes '12

As one to watch in the media industry, Hughes is an associate editor at New York Times Magazine, where she is responsible for editing the "Letter of Recommendation" column and the back page of the magazine. Hughes also co-created Writers of Color, a database to help editors discover diverse writers.

Aditi Juneja '12

Juneja was named to Forbes 30 Under 30 for law and policy. A New York State Excelsior Service Fellow, Juneja "cofounded the Resistance Manual, an open-source platform that has crowdsourced thousands of pieces of content on legislative policy issues at the national, state and local levels," according to Forbes. Since graduating from NYU School of Law, Juneja has worked on housing issues as a service fellow. (Photo by Sam Hollenshead.)

Emily Callahan '11

Callahan is a marine conservation biologist who, along with Amber Jackson, started Blue Latitudes, an organization working with oil companies to transform offshore oil platforms into artificial reefs. Callahan and her partner, who appear in 30 Under 30’s energy sector, conduct ongoing, comprehensive studies of the ecological, socio-economic and advocacy issues surrounding the Rigs to Reefs program in California. To learn more, read the CC Magazine story on Callahan's work.

The trio joins a growing group of Conn alums who have appeared on the 30 Under 30 list, including two who were named in the past four years alone. Molly Hayward '10 was recognized last year for founding the innovative startup company, Cora, and Lauren Burke '06 made the list in 2013 in the law and policy category for her work as an advocate for immigrant youth and victims of child trafficking.

Each year, Forbes selects its 30 Under 30 winners from more than 10,000 nominees in the U.S., Europe and Asia. The recognition of these three Connecticut College graduates in the same year is representative of the outsized impact Conn's alums are having in a wide range of fields. The College had more alumni named to the Forbes list than any of its NESCAC peers.
