Pielock Wins Three Events for Women-Czelewicz Triumphs in Two Events for Men
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. --The Connecticut College men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned a clean sweep in a dual meet at Wesleyan University Saturday.
The 21st ranked Camel women posted a 168-123 victory in their fourth straight win, while the 25th ranked men triumphed in a 177-87 decision for their fourth consecutive triumph.
Sophomore Julia Pielock (Deerfield, Mass.) scored three wins for the Camels Saturday. Pielock triumphed in the 50, 100 and 200 yard freestyle with respective times of 24.52 seconds, 54.27 seconds and 1:57.19.
Esther Mehesz (Wethersfield, Conn.) won both the 500 and 1000 yard freestyle with respective times of 5:16.78 and 10:42.46.
Junior Katie Karlson (Wayland, Mass.) posted a winning time of 1:07.96 in the 100 yard breaststroke. In the 200 yard fly, Ellie Huelbig (Rutherford, N.J.) triumphed in 2:12.99. Erika Fernandes (Westport, Mass.) posted a winning time of 1:01.06 in the 100 yard fly.
In the 200 yard individual medley, Rachel Bohn (Trumbull, Conn.) secured a victory in 2:14.91 for the Camels. Molly Longstreth (Bethesda, Md.) won the three meter dive with a score of 135.75 points.
In the 200 yard medley relay, Rachel Bohn, Katie Karlson, Erika Fernandes and Julia Pielock teamed up for a victory in 1:52.03. Karlson, Esther Mehesz, Mackenzie Lilly (Frederick, Md. and Jessica Schanzer (Monterey, Calif.) posted a winning time of 3:45.82 in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
In the men's action, four Camels were multiple event winners Saturday.
Senior Tim Walsh (Lincoln Park, N.J.) won both the 100 and 200 yard back with respective times of 52.28 seconds and 1:55.39. Kirk Czelewicz (Lowell, Mass.) triumphed in the 200 yard individual medley and the 200 yard breast with times of 2:03.25 and 2:16.13.
Sophomore Sam Gill (Springfield, Ill.) won the 100 free and the 100 yard fly with respective times of 47.52 seconds and 51.66 seconds. Max Fabian (Keene, N.H.) triumphed in the 500 and 1000 yard freestyle with winning times of 4:48.77 and 10:02.98.
The Camel men swept the two relay events. In the 200 yard medley relay, Tim Walsh, Cameron Johnson (Westford, Mass.), Sam Gill and Patrick McGinnis (Middletown, R.I.) teamed up for a victory in 1:37.45. Walsh, Gill, Bohdan Martin (West Hartford, Conn.) and Johnson won the 400 yard free relay in 3:16.43.
