Pielock, Gill and Fabian Lead Camels to Road Wins
LEWISTON, Maine. --The Connecticut College men's and women's swimming and diving teams continued their torrid stretch of success at Bates College Saturday.
The 22nd ranked Camel men (9-2) cruised to their seventh straight win with a 169.5-110.5 triumph against Bates College. The 19th ranked Camel women coasted to their seventh and eighth straight wins, downing the host Bobcats of Bates in a 167-127 triumph and out-lasting the Wellesley Blue in a 167-130 victory.
Sophomore Julia Pielock (South Deerfield, Mass.) continues to build momentum as she heads toward championship season. Pielock triumphed in both the 50 and 100 yard free with respective times of 24.58 and 54.38 seconds.
In the 500 and 1000 yard free, Esther Mehesz (Wethersfield, Conn.) prevailed victorious with winning times of 5:14.43 and 10:36.54.
Junior Katie Karlson (Wayland, Mass.) chipped in with a victory in the 100 yard breaststroke, posting a time of 1:08.52. Erika Fernandes (Westport, Mass.) set a facility record in the 50 yard fly with a winning time of 26.87 seconds. In the 400 yard individual medley, Hillary Scott (Chapel Hill, N.C.) posted a winning time of 4:52.90 for Connecticut College
In the 200 yard free relay, Erika Fernandes, Mackenzie Lilly (Frederick, Md.), Jessica Schanzer (Monterey, Calif.) and Julia Pielock secured a Camel victory in 1:40.32. Rachel Bohn (Trumbull, Conn.), Katie Karlson, Ellie Huelbig (Rutherford, N.J.) and Schanzer posted a winning time of 4:08.60 in the 400 yard medley relay.
Sophomore Sam Gill (Springfield, Ill.) and freshman Max Fabian (Keene, N.H.) posted three wins each to lead the Camel men.
Gill triumphed in both the 50 and 100 yard fly with respective times of 23.54 and 50.91 seconds and added a third win in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 47.65 seconds. The winning time of 50.91 seconds in the 100 fly was a facility record.
Fabian secured victories in the 400 yard individual medley as well as the 500 and 1000 yard free with respective times of 4:21.69, 4:55.09 and 10:00.40.
Cameron Johnson (Westford, Mass.) posted winning times of 28.37 seconds and 1:02.32 in the 50 and 100 yard breaststroke.
Senior Tim Walsh (Lincoln Park, N.J.) triumphed in the 50 and 100 yard back with respective times of 23.67 and 51.60 seconds. The mark in the 50 back set a facility record.
In the 50 yard free, Patrick McGInnis (Middletown, R.I.) posted a winning time of 22.09 seconds.
In the 200 yard freestyle relay, the Camel foursome comprised of Tim Walsh, Patrick McGinnis, Cameron Johnson and Sam Gill set a facility record with a winning time of 1:26.84.
