Dumont Garners All-NESCAC Honors for Connecticut College
NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College sophomore forward Courtney Dumont of Lewiston, Maine has been honored on the All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Ice Hockey second team for the second consecutive year.
Dumont finished sixth in the NESCAC this season with 12 goals scored and dished out nine assists to lead the Camels with 21 points. The sophomore standout has tallied 30 goals and 17 assists in the first 50 games of her burgeoning career.
Connecticut College Head Women's Ice Hockey Coach Kristin Steele was pleased with Dumont's performance and honored with the conference recognition for a growing program that made its fifth consecutive appearance in the NESCAC Championship Tournament.
"Courtney means a lot to our team," Steele said. "Her goal scoring abilities allow our team to believe we are never out of a game. As her game continues to mature I think she will push herself to even higher levels of success. This is a great honor for Dumont and her teammates and makes the future of Connecticut College hockey bright."
Dumont had an immediate impact on the program, tallying 18 goals, 10 assists and 28 points in a memorable 2010-201 season for Connecticut College. She was honored as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year after the Camels posted their first winning season in 14 years as a varsity program.
In a 5-2 victory against Wesleyan Feb. 18, 2011, Dumont set the program's single season scoring record with her 18th goal for Connecticut College. The previous mark of 17 scores was held by Karyn Nelson '00.
