Connecticut College is Fifth at NESCAC MSD Championship Walsh Sets NESCAC Record in 50 Yard Back

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.--The 2012 NESCAC Men's Swimming and Diving Championship is underway at Williams College. After one day of competition, the Camels are sitting in fifth place, just eight points behind Tufts University with a score of 372 points. Senior Tim Walsh (Lincoln Park, N.J.) won the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 22.88 seconds. Walsh set a NESCAC record in the prelims Friday morning, besting his own conference record that he set at Bowdoin in 2011 with a time of 22.77 seconds. Sophomore Sam Gill (Springfield, Ill.) posted a time of 22.45 seconds en route to his second place scoring in the 50 yard butterfly. In the 400 yard medley relay, the Camel foursome comprised of Tim Walsh, Kirk Czelewicz (Lowell, Mass.), Sam Gill and Cameron Johnson (Westford, Mass.) provisionally qualified for the 2012 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship with a third place finish in 3.24.31.
