HARRISVILLE, R.I. (Nichols College Sports Information) - Junior Molly Murphy (Woodstock, Conn.) led the way for Connecticut College with a goal and an assist in a 4-0 victory over Nichols Wednesday evening in a non-conference women's ice hockey matchup at Levy Rink. The first period was back and forth with both teams creating quality opportunities to get onto the board. Connecticut College was successful on capitalizing on one those opportunities, scoring 6:13 into the period. Senior forward Lauren Posillico (Nesconet, N.Y.) took a point blank shot, which rebounded directly to the stick of senior Jillian Dolliff (Excelsior, Minn.), who slid the puck into the open net. The period finished with Connecticut College outshooting Nichols 10-9. The Camels added on to their lead with another goal in the second period. At 14:44 Murphy fed a pass to junior Sam Shuffenecker (Oswego, N.Y.) who fired a shot from the top slot which was redirected by first year forward Shelley Moore (San Jose, Calif.) over the blocker of the goalie. Connecticut College came out strong in the third and at 5:41 netted their third goal when sophomore Louise Bulow Andersson (Alingsas, Sweden) passed the puck across to Murphy who fired a slap shot beating the goalie high blocker side. Later in the period at 14:13, sophomore Olivia Farrell (New York, N.Y.) found junior Ariel DiPasquale (Whitestone, N.Y.) in front of the net who slid the puck into the lower right corner of the net. Nichols had a chance late in the period to get on the board when first year forward Alyssa Bufis (Linden, N.J.) nearly slipped the puck past junior goaltender Amy Leichliter (West Chester, Penn.) who made a great save. The Camels outshot Nichols 32-25 as Connecticut College went 1-3 on the power play while the Bison went 0-3. Leichliter improves to 2-2 with the shutout win while Nichols first-year goaltender Rebecca Cohen (Raleigh, N.C.) falls to 1-2 despite a 21 save effort. Nichols (4-8-1) completes the two-game homestand on Friday, January 13th as the Bison open a home-and-home weekend series with ECAC East opponent Manhattanville at 7:40 p.m. Connecticut College (3-4-1) hosts Bowdoin for a NESCAC weekend set beginning Friday at 7:00 p.m.
