#22 Camel Women, #24 Camel Men Post Wins at NESCAC Championship
HARTFORD, Conn.--The Connecticut College men's squash team, ranked #24 in the latest Dunlop Team Rankings competed in the 2012 NESCAC Championship this weekend. The 10th seeded Camels scored an upset in the first round of the NESCAC Championship Tournament, defeating #7 Colby College 5-4.
Caleb Garza (Seaville, N.J.) rallied from a game down to pull out a five game thriller at the #1 slot on the ladder. John Sluder (Sudbury, Mass.) posted a victory at #3 for the Camels. The Camels would drop decisions to #2 Williams, 9-0, and #6 Amherst, 6-3, before falling to #5 Bowdoin in a 5-4 nail-biter.
Meanwhile, the 22nd ranked Camel women (7-17) picked up their seventh win of the season in the consolation round against Tufts, out-lasting the Jumbos in a 7-2 triumph. Caroline Sargent (Seattle, Wash.), Laura Abrams (Avon, Conn.). Leah Puklin (Bala Cynwyd, Pa.) and Jenn Hyslip (Andover, Mass.) won in their respective slots from 1-4.
