Scott Wins 500 & 1000 Yard Free for Women
Gill Scores Wins in Three Events for Camel Men
NEW LONDON, Conn. --The Connecticut College men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned decisive victories against visiting Roger Williams University at Lott Natatorium Tuesday.
The 21st ranked Camel women (7-2) posted a 182-105 victory in their fifth straight win. The 25th ranked Camel men (7-2) earned a 174-91 victory for their fifth straight victory.
Sophomore Sam Gill (Springfield, Ill.) triumphed in both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle with respective times of 21.93 and 48.77 seconds. Gill added a third victory in the 50 yard butterfly, posting a time of 23.45 seconds for the Camels.
Kirk Czelewicz (Lowell, Mass.) notched victories in the 50 and 200 yard breast with respective times of 28.23 seconds and 2:16.42.
In the 50 yard back, Tim Walsh (Lincoln Park, N.J.) triumphed in 24.38 seconds. Joe Gibson (Northwood, N.H.) won the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.37. Bohdan Martin (West Hartford, Conn.) won the 200 yard freestyle in 1:49.12.
In the 200 yard back, Sean Paquette (Middletown, R.I.) posted a victory in 1:59.48.
Kevin Saunders (Wethersfield, Conn.) won the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:00.32. In the 1000 yard free, Max Fabian (Keene, N.H.) secured a victory in 10:06.36.
In the 400 yard medley relay, the Camel foursome comprised of Tim Walsh, Cameron Johnson (Westford, Mass.), Sean Paquette and Bohdan Martin triumphed with a time of 3:37.42
Sophomore Julia Pielock (Deerfield, Mass.), the reigning NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Performer of the week, helped lead the Camel women to the victory with a winning time of 1:59.52 in the 200 yard freestyle.
Junior Jessica Schanzer (Monterey, Calif.) triumphed in both the 50 yard back and the 100 yard freestyle with times of 29.55 seconds and 56.43 seconds.
Hillary Scott (Chapel Hill, N.C.) chipped in with winning times of 5:22.10 and 10:57.75 in the 500 and 1000 yard free. Ellie Huelbig (Rutherford, N.J.) won the 50 and 200 yard fly with respective times of 29.16 seconds and 2:13.01.
Katie Karlson (Wayland, Mass.) won the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 31.82 seconds.
Esther Mehesz (Wethersfield, Conn.) won the 200 yard breast in 2:34.97. In the 200 yard back, Rachel Bohn (Trumbull, Conn.) secured a Camel victory in 2:18.35. Erika Fernandes (Westport, Mass.) triumphed in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.98 seconds.
Rachel Bohn, Katie Karlson, Ellie Huelbig and Mackenzie Lilly (Frederick, Md.) posted a winning time of 4:11.07 in the 400 yard medley relay.
