Olympian, 2 renowned scholars and The Atlantic's publisher also to return

Connecticut College is celebrating its 100th birthday this year and alumni are leading the way.

Speakers at several key events will be graduates, starting Jan. 28. Lee Eisenberg ’99, writer and co-executive producer of NBC’s Emmy-winning series “The Office,” was the inaugural speaker for a student-organized discussion series, “Great Beginnings: Conversations with Alumni.”

Other alumni speakers to date are:

Linda Eisenmann '75: Eisenmann, provost at Wheaton College, will speak on the topic of women's education during Founders Day on April 5.

Olympic Medalist Anita L. DeFrantz ’74: DeFrantz, a member of the International Olympic Committee, will speak at the Centennial Baccalaureate, May 21 at 4 p.m. in Palmer Auditorium.

Cynthia Enloe ’60: Enloe, a Fulbright recipient and internationally known feminist scholar and writer, will deliver the Centennial Commencement address. Commencement is May 22 at 10:30 a.m. on Tempel Green.

Edward Burger ’85: Burger, an award-winning math professor at Williams College, will be the keynote speaker at the Centennial Convocation on Sept. 1 at 4 p.m.

Jay Lauf ’86: Lauf, publisher of The Atlantic, will speak as part of the “Conversations with Alumni”series; his talk is Sept. 16 at 8:15 p.m.

Margaret Sheridan '67: Sheridan the Martha Bennett '73 professor Emeritus of Human Development, will speak Oct. 21 during the Centennial Fall Weekend on the evolution of her academic discipline. With her will be Sara Radlinski, former director of the Connecticut College Children's Program.

Alumni will also be taking part in other ways. The Art Department's spring show will be an exhibit of alumni artwork. Vocalist Mary Foster Conklin '79 will perform as part of the onStage series, and dance Professor David Dorfman '81 will choreograph one performance and lead his dance company in another.
