Nature is front and center at Earth Fest April 18

Connecticut College´s annual Earth Day celebration, Earth Fest!, is Sunday, April 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the College´s Tempel Green. (This event, originally scheduled for April 17, has been moved to the rain date of April 18 due to forecasted rain.) "Earth Fest! marks a day each year when the campus and broader community come together to learn, share and celebrate the environment," Amy Cabaniss, the College´s campus environmental coordinator, said. "The environment is front and center with displays, activities, music and festivities for adults and children alike." Earth Fest! will feature more than 30 educational exhibits, organic food, activities for adults and children, Arboretum tours, musical performances by "Dan & Liz" and local bands "Dogbite" and "The Rivergods," a visit by the Mystic Paper Beast roving puppets and en plein air Arboretum paintings by local artists. All events are open to the public and free, unless otherwise noted. The schedule of events is: • 11-11:45 a.m.: Performance by musical duo "Dan & Liz" • 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: A visit by the Mystic Paper Beast roving puppets • Noon: Arboretum tour • Noon-2 p.m.: Performance by musical group "Dogbite" • Noon-2 p.m.: Lunch and drinks for sale by the Connecticut College Renewable Energy Club (REC), a student group dedicated to raising awareness and encouraging energy conservation on campus • 1 p.m.: Arboretum tour • 1:15 p.m.: A cappella concert by the Connecticut College ConnChords, an all female vocal ensemble • 2-3 p.m.: Performance by musical group "The Rivergods"
