Witter Collects 39 Saves in Opening Weekend of Action for Camels
NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College men´s water polo team hosted Northern Division water polo action at Lott Natatorium this weekend.
The Camels dropped all three of their matches against some of the strongest competition on the East Coast. Friday night, the Camels were upended by Brown University, 19-2. The Camels lost an 18-0 decision to St. Francis College Saturday before closing out the weekend with a 20-5 loss to Queens.
Connecticut College sophomore Clayton Witter (Douglassville, Pa.) had 10 saves and four steals in the Brown match. Ryan Pelham (Stonington, Conn.) and Brian Barasha (Spotsylvania, Pa.) accounted for the Camel offense in the match.
Witter made 15 stops against St. Francis, adding three steals in the contest. In the final match of the weekend against Queens, Witter contributed on the offensive and defensive end, adding 14 more saves before tallying a goal of his own with 10 seconds left.
Junior Nick Sizer (West Simsbury, Conn.), Kulameth Phromratanapongse (Bangkok, Thailand), Sam Burns (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Pelham all tallied for the hosts in the Queens match.
