Cummings Nets 21 Points, Shoots 50% for Camels
MIDDLETOWN, Conn.--Wesleyan University (8-12, 2-5) withstood a furious second half rally from Connecticut College (8-14, 0-7) to pull out a 79-71 victory in double overtime Saturday.
The Camels trailed by as many as 11 points in the first half and were down by five points in the first of the two extra sessions but fell just short in the end.
Jenn Shinall (Redding, Conn.) netted 22 points with five rebounds and three steals in a perfect 8-for-8 shooting performance on the foul line for the Camels. Emily Cummings (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) poured in 21 points in 41 minutes of action for the Camels.
Amy Towne (Stamford, Conn.) chipped in with six points and seven boards.
Sam LaCroce (Prospect, Conn.) tallied a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds in a double-double for Wesleyan. Sophomore forward Eileen Gaffney (Manhasset, N.Y.) registered a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Erin Gold (New Hope, Pa.) contributed 19 points and six rebounds for the winning side.
