Martland, Lau Hansen Lead Camels to 10th Place Finish at Captain Hurst Bowl
HANOVER, N.H.--The Connecticut College coed sailing team visited the Granite State of New Hampshire for the Captain Hurst Bowl at Dartmouth College this weekend.
The Camels, who are receiving votes in the Sailing World Magazine National Poll, placed 10th out of 20 teams with a score of 282 points.
Harvard University won the regatta with a score of 168 points. Stanford and Yale finished in second and third place at the regatta with respective scores of 185 and 187 points.
The Camels finished 15th in the A division with 170 points. Mike Marshall (Jamestown, R.I.) and Wells Bacon (Mount Desert, Maine) skippered in the division with Iraz Korezlioglu (Istanbul, Turkey), Marshall, and Marina Gluckman (New York, N.Y.) contributing as the crew.
Freshman Kevin Martland skippered the Camels to a strong sixth place finish in the B division. Kevin Lau Hansen (Larchmont, N.Y.) and Katie Andril (Arlington, Va.) contributed as the crew.
A little closer to home, the sixth ranked Camel women´s sailing team competed in the Yale Women´s Regatta. Connecticut College placed eighth in the 18 team field with a score of 135 points.
Yale won the regatta with 69 points. Brown placed second with 74 points and Boston College was third with 93 points.
Senior Maggie Shea (Wilmette, Ill.) skippered the Camels to an eighth place finish in the A division with 69 points. Atlantic Brugman (Barcelona, Spain) skippered the Camels to a ninth place showing in the B division with 66 points.
