Green Wins 5K for Camel Men
Dermody Finishes 3rd in 1000 Meters for Women
MEDFORD, Mass.--The Connecticut College track and field teams competed in the Tufts University Invitational this weekend. Sophomore Brenner Green (Lisbon, Conn.), a graduate of Norwich Free Academy, won the 5k for the Camel men. In the women´s invitational, the Camels took second place in the 4x800 meter relay.
Green posted a winning time of 17:20.97 in the 5,000 meters. Hoitt McAllister (McLean, Va.)placed second behind Green with a time of 17:46.23. Senior Alex Samma (Ougadougou, Burkina Faso) notched another victory in the triple jump, covering a distance of 46 feet, 11 inches.
In the 1,000 meters, Andrew Duarte (Rocky Hill, Conn.) qualified for both the ECAC and New England Division III Championship with a second place finish in 2:34.13. In their fastest time of the season, the 4x800 meter relay team comprised of Doug Wright (Darien, Conn.), Tristan Cole, Tim Murtagh (Rowley, Mass.) and Andrew Duarte placed third in 8:24.64.
Sophomore Kerry Dermody (Erieville, N.Y.) paced the Camel women with a third place finish in the 1000 meters, stamping her ticket for the New England Division III and ECAC Championships with a time of 3:07.61. The Camels added two more qualifiers for the New England Division III Championship. In the 600 meters, Merry Byrne (Brookside, N.J.) placed sixth in a time of 1:44.51. Kelsey Taylor (East Hampton, Conn.) logged a time of 3:10.41 in the 1000 meters to finish in seventh place.
The 4x800 meter relay team comprised of Taylor, Ally Bonito (Guilford, Conn.), Molly Pistrang (Princeton, Mass.) and Kerry Dermody took second place in 9:57.58.
