Refunds average $57 per person

Chickering Claims Administrators Inc. owes 254 former students a total of $14,530.29 for healthcare claims that were wrongly denied.

Chickering, acquired in 2003 by Aetna Student Health, provided insurance to Connecticut College students between 2001 and 2008. Aetna says the students are among 1,300 in Connecticut to be under-reimbursed for out-of-network services.

Alumni who deserve refunds should have received a recent letter from Aetna with more information and a form that must be returned to Aetna within 45 days.

Because health records are confidential, the College does not have the names of the alumni.
