Junior women's hockey player is fiery on the ice
Connecticut College women's hockey player Erin Davey '10 helped lead her team to its third straight win recently, with three goals and a goal assist in just two games. A forward for the team, Davey has just been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Hockey Player of the Week.
Davey tallied two goals and an assist in a 4-2 victory at Hamilton. The next day she scored again, helping the Camels to a 7-3 triumph over Wesleyan. Davey leads the club with seven goals and has amassed nine points this season, for a total of 19 goals, nine assists and 28 points in her three year career with the Camel hockey program.
A two-sport athlete for the Camels, Davey was a team tri-captain and starting midfielder for the women's soccer team this fall. At Proctor Academy, the versatile athlete captained the soccer, hockey and softball squads. In the classroom, Davey has been equally impressive, excelling as a Dean's List student. The junior scholar is majoring in theater and also carries a minor in sociology.
The hefty time commitment and stringent demands of competing on two varsity-level collegiate sports teams has not stopped Davey from volunteering her time with a number of campus organizations and community service programs. Davey works with the Office of Volunteer and Community Service (OVCS) as a student representative and has served as a coordinator with Project KBA (Kids, Books, Athletics), a grass roots initiative that promotes literacy and fitness in the New London schools. She also works with the office of residence life as a floor governor and is an active member of the theater advisory committee.
