Caroline Davis '99

Caroline Davis proved to be one of the most dominating and versatile soccer players to compete in a Camel uniform. Her prolific play and clutch performances played an integral role in the program’s rise to national prominence.

In her senior season (1998), the soccer program reached its pinnacle with an appearance in the NCAA Championship Tournament, advancing to the Elite Eight round. The Camels finished the season ranked #8 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National Poll.

Davis led the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) in scoring with 11 goals, 12 assists and 34 points.

A maven of the midfield, Davis was honored as a First Team All-NESCAC selection and garnered NSCAA All-New England and NCAA All-Region accolades. She thrived under pressure and five of her scores were game-winners in the storied '98 season.

Davis played an instrumental role in the team's ascent to the top of the region, appearing in all 63 career games and helping the Camels post a 35-23-5 (.595) record. She holds the school record for assists in a career (24) and single season (12); and she ranks third in career points (66) and sixth in career goals (21).

In addition to her success on the soccer field, Davis was a two-year contributor on the hard wood for the basketball team, earning the team's Most Improved Player Award in 1996.

Davis was enrolled in current Athletic Director Fran Shields' Sociology of Sport course in her senior year at the College. The class stimulated her interest in sports television and she was able to land a highly competitive internship at ESPN that led to a full-time position.

Over the past decade, Davis has flourished at the network, traveling around the world to cover the largest sport events. She has received numerous promotions and currently serves as a senior production coordinator in the network's event production department.

Davis earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in psychology-based human relations and minored in American studies.

"From the moment Caroline arrived, she made an impact," said former women's soccer coach Ken Kline. "She was full of energy, a truly exceptional player. She could do it all. She made the most of all of her attributes. I am thrilled that she is being inducted."

Davis maintains a rigorous travel schedule, yet she has never forgotten where she came from. She speaks twice a year to Connecticut College students and has helped many alums find employment with ESPN.

A native of Dunwoody, Ga., Davis attended Marist High School in Atlanta. She currently resides in Newport, R.I.
