Professor Kenneth Prestininzi directs world premiere of ‘Flood’
Connecticut College's onStage Guest Artist Series will continue with Boston's Lorelei Ensemble, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, in Evans Hall. The group's mission is to advance the women's vocal ensemble through passionate, engaging artistry and creative collaboration.
Lorelei is an all-professional music ensemble, comprising nine women whose expertise ranges from early to contemporary repertoire. The group has been heralded by The Boston Globe for their “impressive musicality” and display of the “elegance, power, and grace of the human voice.” Lorelei has commissioned and premiered more than 50 new works since its founding in 2007 and continues to expose and reinvent early works of the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque repertoires. Core members of Lorelei have worked with ensembles and individuals at Harvard University, Boston University, Bucknell University and the Connecticut Children’s Chorus.
Prior to their performance, a demonstration and discussion, entitled “Crafting a New Normal for Women in Music,” will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, in the 1941 Room at the College Center at Crozier-Williams. This event is free and open to the public.
Tickets for the performance are $22 general admission, $20 for seniors, $11 for students and are available online or by calling the box office at 860-439-2787.
