onStage Presents “A(Way) Out of My Body” by David Dorfman Dance

Connecticut College’s onStage Guest Artist Series starts anew this spring with “A(Way) Out of My Body” by David Dorfman Dance at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, and 2 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, in Martha Myers Studio at the College Center at Crozier-Williams.

This performance asks the question: Where do our minds and spirits travel when the weight of everyday life becomes an unbearable load to carry? “A(Way Out of My Body” investigates the out-of-body experience as related to intergenerational trauma, and the mental burden and physical impact of surviving personal adversity. David Dorfman and his company of dancers and musicians weave together a memorable evening of dance, live music and theater, where audiences can explore and realize their own joyous capacity to overcome physical and societal limitations.

For 32 years, David Dorfman Dance has created movement that seeks to de-stigmatize the notion of accessibility and interaction in post-modern dance by embracing audiences with meaningful dance, music and text. The company has performed extensively throughout North and South America, Great Britain, Europe and Central Asia. Dorfman, an internationally renowned dancer and choreographer, is a professor of dance at Connecticut College.
