Visiting Assistant Professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Intersectionality Studies

The Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Intersectionality Studies at Connecticut College invites applications for a visiting assistant professor. We are seeking a scholar with expertise in trans studies, mixed race studies, disability studies, and/or transnational LGBTQ studies. Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience teaching in gender and women’s studies or related fields including feminist and queer theory as well as social justice activism.

A PhD is strongly preferred by June 1, 2023 in gender and women’s studies, feminist studies, or a closely related interdisciplinary field. Candidates with meaningful community engagement experience are preferred. This one-year position is projected to start on July 1, 2023 with the possibility of extension. The position requires teaching 5 courses (or course equivalents) annually in the Gender, Sexuality, and Intersectionality Studies department including core courses and electives.

The Gender, Sexuality, and Intersectionality Studies Department is committed to interdisciplinary, intersectional, transnational feminist, and queer inquiry. The teaching load for a full-time visitor is five courses per academic year. Visiting faculty are initially participating members of the faculty and voting members in their second and subsequent years; their presence is welcome at all faculty meetings.
