Head Coach of Athletics and Physical Education

Connecticut College, a highly selective private liberal arts college in New London, CT, and a member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), ), is conducting a national search for an experienced head coach for the intercollegiate Division III Men’s & Women’s Squash programs. This is a full-time appointment with adjunct faculty status for the academic year.  Compensation in addition to pay includes a full benefits package. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of a Division III men’s & women’s squash program competing in the most competitive D3 conference in the nation. Requirements include planning for daily practice, preparing for competition, recruiting prospective student-athletes capable of succeeding at a highly selective liberal arts institution competing at the highest level of Division III , supervising the teams in intercollegiate events on and off campus, and performing outreach to team parents and alumni.  The successful candidate will also have the highest ethical standards with regard to NCAA and NESCAC rules.

Our coaches are faculty members who have coaching, teaching, and administrative responsibilities in the Department of Physical Education & Athletics. General Duties & Responsibilities:

The Head Coach of Men's & Women’s Squash will develop and implement daily practice, conditioning regimen and skill development; roster management and daily affairs for Men's & Women’s Squash, make lineup decisions; report results; perform periodic outreach to team parents and alumni.  The Head Coach will handle all NCAA, NESCAC and department administrative responsibilities for the men's & women’s squash teams; adhere to all College, NESCAC, and NCAA regulations; plan, coordinate, supervise and execute all team travel with approval from the Director of Athletics; attend all department functions; develop and implement an effective recruitment plan in collaboration with the Office of Admission; actively participate in program fundraising in collaboration with the Office of Advancement; care for the overall development and the well-being of each student-athlete; must have the ability to drive 12 passenger and 7 passenger vans for team travel. This position requires both night and weekend availability throughout the academic year.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree preferred in an appropriate area of specialization and at least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified required; current certification in CPR and First Aid; ability to interact well with a variety of people from all aspects of the College and community; posses a valid state issued driver's license; strong written and verbal communication skills; knowledge of common coaching practices and the ability to properly instruct collegiate athletes; high integrity to manage confidential information, especially Personal Private Information (PPI); knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; ability to react calmly and effectively in an emergency situation; travel is required; and have the availability to work weekends in order to fulfill the obligations of the position.
