Dear Members of the Campus Community,

Tomorrow is Veterans Day, a time set aside to honor those who have served their country.

With our close proximity to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and the Naval submarine base, the Conn community perhaps has a greater knowledge of — and appreciation for — military service than people on many other college campuses. There are a number of veterans, too, who have worked among us as staff, faculty, and even students. And you may know people in your immediate or extended family who served. Whatever your situation, I encourage all of you to take a moment tomorrow to reflect on the meaning of this kind of service, the sacrifices our veterans have made, and the pain their families have endured as a result.

As you do this in your own way tomorrow, please join me today in thanking the veterans among us for their service.
