December 23, 2020
Dear Faculty, Students, and Staff,
I hope you are all keeping safe as we bring this historic semester to a close. I am immensely grateful for the integrity, persistence, and respect you showed over the past nine months as we navigated a fall like no other. Thank you once again for all you did to make it successful.
We are now looking toward 2021, and I am writing about our search for the next dean of the College. Jefferson Singer will step down in June to return to teaching after six years of distinguished service as a member of the senior administration. There will be occasions in the coming months to acknowledge Jefferson’s many contributions, but I hope you will join me now in thanking him for all he has done for Connecticut College.
We are now launching a search within our own community to identify Dean Singer’s successor. You will find the position profile here. Applications or nominations should be sent to Lauren Middleton, secretary of the College (lmiddlet@conncoll.edu). Applications should include a CV and letter of intent; nominations should include a few lines about why you believe the proposed candidate would be a good fit for the position. Ideally, these should be received by February 1, 2021.
With the help of FSCC, SGA, and Staff Council, I am finalizing the search committee. I will write again in early January when all the members have been identified.
In the meantime, I send you my best wishes for a healthy, happy Winter Break and a new year filled with faith, friendship, and love.
Yours,
Katherine Bergeron
President
