Dear Members of the Campus Community,
It is with excitement and gratitude that I write to announce the largest gift in Connecticut College’s history: $20 million from trustee Robert Hale, class of 1988, and his wife Karen Hale. This transformative gift will take our College to new levels of excellence by providing $10 million in new resources for financial aid; $5 million for the College’s nationally recognized career program; and $5 million for improvements to the College’s athletics facilities.
Many of you may have joined the campus celebration in front of the Charles E. Shain Library this afternoon. It was a great event, and I know every member of our community will enjoy this short video, which will give you more insight into this wonderful couple and their wonderful philanthropy.
It is difficult to express how deeply grateful we are for what the Hales have done for our community. Their gift will touch the lives of every student for years to come. I encourage you to learn more about the gift, the celebration, and the Hales themselves on our website.
In the meantime, I know you will all want to join me in thanking Rob and Karen for their extraordinary leadership.
Yours,
Katherine Bergeron
President
