Dear Connecticut College Faculty and Staff,
I am writing to let you know that, during its most recent meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the College’s plan to make a one-time, voluntary retirement offer available to eligible faculty and staff this spring. This opportunity will become available in early March. The deadline for deciding whether to accept is April 27, 2018.
This offer is motivated by a key priority of our strategic plan to advance the excellence of our educational programs in a financially sustainable context. It provides members of the College community who may be considering retirement with financial support and other benefits in excess of what would be available under ordinary circumstances.
To consider this offer, your years of continuous benefits-eligible service combined with your age must equal 75 or more as of June 30, 2018. If you are a tenured faculty member receiving benefits under the College’s phased retirement plan or exit incentive plan, or if you have already signed an agreement to retire on or before June 30, 2018, this opportunity is not available.
If you do meet the eligibility requirements, you will receive an email later today, and a formal letter later this week, from either Dean of the Faculty Abby Van Slyck or Vice President for Finance and Administration Richard Madonna, that contains more information about the offer and next steps.
Thank you for your continued dedication and service to the mission of this College.
Yours,
Katherine Bergeron
President
