November 6, 2022

Dear members of the Connecticut College community,

The midterm elections are Tuesday, Nov. 8, and I urge you to vote.

During these turbulent times when the bedrock principles of democracy are being called into question, it is especially important that we all participate in the grand experiment that is our elective form of government.

And the first and most fundamental part of that participation is casting a ballot for the candidates and the causes in which we believe. Each of our votes matters, making a difference in the overarching values we hold up in our communities, state and nation and how those values play out in our everyday lives.

At Conn, we embrace the ideal of full participation, creating an environment in which all people can reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to the flourishing of others and to society.

Democracy is also based on the principle of full participation in the form of one person, one vote and equal representation. In this country, we have an unfettered right to cast our individual ballot and collectively choose our leaders and our way of life. That right starts with voting. Please do so Tuesday.

On election day (11/8), Camels Vote will have a table in Cro and at the library and the Holleran Center will be offering rides to the polls in an effort to mobilize our community.

Yours,

Katherine
