Dear Members of the Connecticut College Community,

This year marks a milestone for Connections, as we prepare to graduate the program’s very first cohort of students in the Class of 2020. The culminating event is the All-College Symposium, scheduled for Nov. 7, when more than 160 seniors in our interdisciplinary pathways and centers will present the results of their work over the past three years.

Through panels, poster sessions, and performances held in a range of locations across campus, our student presenters will highlight the connections they have made among their courses and research, their jobs and internships, their work in local communities and around the globe—along with the questions that animated their choices along the way. The whole campus is invited to experience this major student conference.

Shain Library will serve as information central for the symposium, and a new smartphone app, “Guidebook,” will help you not only navigate the options but also create a custom schedule of events that you would like to attend. More details about this resource will follow.

You can find a sampling of topics to be offered on our website. You can also freely enroll in All-College Symposium 2019, on Moodle Campus, to get more detailed information.

We are extremely proud of all the seniors who are presenting. And I am especially excited that first-year and sophomore students, who are just beginning to chart their journeys through Conn, will have the chance to learn directly from and be inspired by their peers at this inaugural event.

I am proud, too, of our extraordinary faculty and staff who have built our pathways and centers and contributed to our students’ growth. It is your teaching and mentoring that is being celebrated, and we could not be more grateful. I hope every member of the community will be able to attend in some way to mark this milestone.

I look forward to seeing you on Nov. 7.

Yours,
