The Award consists of $500 to help defray the costs of a summer trip to Spain or Latin America. The trip must include a research component, which might entail such activities as interpreted site visits (historical sites, museums, sites associated with an author); research in libraries or archives; participation in cultural events or in a conference; gathering of testimony or oral history; attendance at traditional urban or village festivals; purposeful contact with indigenous peoples; and other similar activities that enhance one's command of Spanish and one's understanding of the Hispanic world. Application forms are available in the Department office. This award may be used to supplement other internship or grant awards. The deadline each year is March 1st. The Award recipient is selected by the Hispanic Studies faculty.
