Oct. 31 concert celebrates the spooky sounds of Halloween
If you've no access to a phantom's lair this Halloween but would still like to hear some eerie organ music, head to Harkness Chapel on the campus of Connecticut College for our always popular Halloween Concert.
Professor of Music John Anthony will play the organ and adjunct assistant professors Thomas Labadorf and Gary Buttery will play clarinet and tuba, respectively. They'll perform works by Bach, Mendelssohn and Meyerbeer, as well as Jan Koetsier's "There is a Reaper, Called Death."
Of this beloved tradition, Anthony said, "We like to showcase some spooky music often associated with the organ. And the chapel provides just the right atmosphere. Together, the music and setting create an otherworldly experience that's perfect for Halloween."
If you dare, put on a costume and come to Harkness Chapel on Monday, Oct. 31, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors. The performance is free for Connecticut College staff, faculty and students.
