Connecticut College's Earth Fest! is April 16

Connecticut College's annual Earth Day celebration, Earth Fest!, is Saturday, April 16, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the college's Tempel Green. (Rain location is 1962 Room, Crozier-Williams student center.) The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature activities for guests of all ages, including Arboretum tours, demonstrations, crafts, music, organic food, environmental groups, eco-friendly products and more. "Fun, informational and inspirational, Earth Fest! brings the community together to celebrate and benefit the environment," Amy Cabaniss, Connecticut College's campus environmental coordinator, said.

Highlights include a visit by the Mystic Paper Beasts roving puppets and musical performances by Connecticut College student groups Fleur de Lise and Vox Cameli, and local bands Dogbite and The Rivergods. Spokespeople, Connecticut College's student-run bicycle collective, is sponsoring a children's bicycle drive to benefit Bikes for Kids, a local charity dedicated to providing bicycles and new helmets to needy children. Visitors are encouraged to bring new or used children's bikes and new children's bicycle helmets to donate. Businesses and organizations interested in participating in Earth Fest! should contact Amy Cabaniss at acabanis@conncoll.edu.
