Arboretum to host Mother's Day Plant Sale

The Arboretum is hosting a Mother's Day Plant Sale on campus May 6, making it easy for members of the College community and area residents to purchase locally grown flora in time for Mom's big day. Many of the offerings have been grown in the Arboretum or in the College's greenhouse, and almost everything will be flowering: hydrangeas, New Guinea impatiens, Martha Washington geraniums, clematis and more.

There will also be colorful hanging pots, baskets and pottery with flowering plants and foliage, and herbs and kitchen container gardens designed by Arboretum staff and volunteers. Prices range from approximately $10 to $32 and all proceeds benefit the Arboretum, which provides opportunities for teaching, research, conservation, recreation and public education. Cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard will be accepted.

"Nearly everyone buys a gift for someone for Mother's Day, and more often than not, that gift is a plant," said Kathy Dame, assistant director of the Arboretum."The plant sale makes it far easier for the College community and others to do their Mother's Day shopping, knowing that the Arboretum, unlike many retailers, will sell only the highest quality plants."

The Mother's Day Plant Sale will take place on the front patio of the College Center at Crozier-Williams on Friday, May 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (The sale will move inside in the event of rain.)
