The Obamas enjoy date night at Blue Hill

When the Obamas were looking to get away for an evening in late May, where did they head?

Manhattan, of course – for dinner at Blue Hill, one of two restaurants co-owned by brothers David Barber '88 and chef Dan Barber. David is the business manager for the family-run enterprise.

Observers think it was Michelle who chose the popular restaurant near Washington Square. No one seems to know what they ate, although it's believed that Chef Barber prepared a meal specially for them. When asked about the evening, he had two words: "No comment."

"Everyone gave them space and was too cool to bother them," one diner told the Associated Press. But when the Obamas got up to leave, the room broke out in spontaneous applause for the couple.
