New London, CT. - Freshman Sage Shanley of Westerly, RI and a 2003 graduate of The Williams School tallied the game-winner with 1:42 to play, lifting Connecticut College (3-2, 1-2) to a 1-0 victory over Wesleyan University (2-4, 0-3) on rain-dampened Silfen Field.

Shanley took the entry pass from Emily Huffman (Oklahom City, OK) and slipped it inside the left post. Sophomore Kate Reardon (Newton, MA) posted the shutout for the hosts, making eight saves between the pipes in the NESCAC tilt. Caitlin Kelley had seven saves for the visiting Cardinals.

Bethany Lucas (South Easton, MA), Ashley Coltin (Londonderry, NH) and Corey McAuliffe (Yarmouthport, MA) anchored the Camel defense, keeping the Cardinals off the scoreboard all afternoon. The win ended Wesleyan's five game winning streak against Connecticut College in field hockey that dated back to September of 1997.

The Camels will try for their third straight win when they host Wellesley College Tuesday afternoon. The game is scheduled to commence at 4:00 p.m.
