Women´s Novice Four Wins at NERC Camel Men´s Varsity Four Finishes 2nd in Petite Final

WORCESTER, Mass.--The Connecticut College rowing teams visited Lake Quinsigamond in Central Massachusetts Saturday for the New England Rowing Championship. The Camel women won the overall fours points total trophy, finishing first and second in the novice four regatta. The men's team placed second in the petite final of the varsity four regatta.
In the women's novice four, the Camels two boats finished 1-2, topping Bowdoin, Amherst and Brandeis.
Arianna Puleo (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) was the coxswain in the winning boat for the Camels that crossed the finish line in 8:03.30. Lesley Gaughan (Weston, Mass.) sat in the stroke seat. Kayla Erikson (Goshen, Conn.) and Alex Heilman (Wayland, Mass.) were joined by Abbe Schickner (Norwich, Vt.) in the bow seat.
The Connecticut College B boat posted a time of 8:14.674 to place second in the five team field. Katie Simoes (Millington, N.J.) served as the coxswain with Mary Fergus (San Francisco, Calif.) handling the stroke row. Emily Perry (Westfield, N.J.), Hannah Brassord (Amherst, Mass.) were joined by Lucy Frye (Wenham, Mass.) in the bow seat.
In the grand final of the women's second varsity four, the Camels finished behind Williams as the runners up in the six team field. The Camels posted a time of 8:25.294, holding off third placed Bowdoin, who crossed the finish line in a time of 8:29.549.
Senior Katie Williams (Clinton, N.Y.) served as the coxswain for the Camels while Mara Hochman (Santa Rosa, Calif.) was seated in the stroke seat. Jessica Truelove (Bethlehem, Conn.) and Nancy Wallace (Cos Cob, Conn.) were joined by Janan Evans-Wilent (Ithaca, N.Y.) in the bow seat.
In the grand final of the women's varsity four, the Camels finished 10.11 second off the winning time in third place with a time of 7:48.884. Williams won the regatta with a time of 7:38.994 and was followed by second place Bowdoin College (7:41.768).
Sophomore Robin Ly (Lexington, Mass.) served as the coxswain. Miriam Singer (Lyndhurst, Oh.) handled the stroke row. Jenna Fitch (Lakeville, Conn.) and Flora Drury (Vinalhaven, Maine) were joined by Jessica Freeland (Westport, Conn.) in the bow seat.
In the petite final of the men's varsity four, the Camels posted a time of 7:06.281 in a second place finish. The University of New Hampshire topped the six team field with a winning time of 7:01.098. The Camels finished ahead of Clark University (7:11.181), the University of Connecticut (7:16.459), Brandeis University (7:24.376) and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy (7:42.091).
Senior captain Dan Stewart (North Andover, Mass.) handled the stroke row and Tim Joffe (Boynton Beach, Fla.) served as the coxswain.
