Camel Women Notch Two Wins at Worcester Men's Varsity Four Places Second

WORCESTER, Mass.--The Connecticut College rowing teams visited Lake Quinsigamond in Central Massachusetts Saturday for their fourth week of competition. The Camel women secured wins in the second varsity four as well as the novice four regattas. The men's team placed second in the six team field of the varsity four regatta.

In the women's second varsity four, the Camels held off Trinity College with a winning time of 8:45.2. The Bantams completed the course in 8:54.2. Bowdoin finished third in 8:57.2. The Connecticut College B boat was fourth and Clark University placed fifth with a time of 10:09.5.

Senior Katie Williams (Clinton, N.Y.) served as the coxswain for the Camels while Jessica Truelove (Bethlehem, Conn.) was seated in the stroke seat. Nancy Wallace (Cos Cob, Conn.), Janan Evans-Wilent (Ithaca, N.Y.) were joined by Mara Hochman (Santa Rosa, Calif.) in the bow seat.

In the women's novice four, the Camels topped Bowdoin and the Cougars of Clark University, winning with open water in a time of 8:31.

Arianna Puleo (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) was the coxswain for the Camels. Lesley Gaughan (Weston, Mass.) sat in the stroke seat. Kayla Erikson (Goshen, Conn.) and Alex Heilman (Wayland, Mass.) were joined by Abbe Schickner (Norwich, Vt.) in the bow seat.

In the women's varsity four, the Camels finished behind Bowdoin and Trinity in third place with a time of 8:33.1. Bowdoin secured the victory with a time of 8:22.8.

Sophomore Robin Ly (Lexington, Mass.) served as the coxswain. Miriam Singer (Lyndhurst, Oh.) handled the stroke row. Jenna Fitch (Lakeville, Conn.) and Flora Drury (Vinalhaven, Maine) were joined by Jessica Freeland (Westport, Conn.) in the bow seat.

The Camels finished 7.8 seconds behind Wesleyan in the novice eight division, posting a time of 8:11.8.

Arianna Puleo was the coxswain. Mary Fergus (San Francisco, Calif.)handled the stroke row. Lucy Frye (Wenham, Mass.), Hannah Brassord (Amherst, Mass.), Emily Perry (Westfield, N.J.), Jenny Cochrane (Hingham, Mass.), Sarah Brodsky (Bryn Mawr, Pa.), and Sara Passeri (Duxbury, Mass.) were joined by Heidi Carothers (Sutter, Calif.) in the bow seat.

In the men's action, the Camels finished 4.2 seconds off the winning pace with a time of 7:38 in a close race with Bowdoin. The Camels reached the finish line ahead of the Bowdoin B Boat, Trinity, Clark and Wesleyan in the regatta. Senior captain Dan Stewart (North Andover, Mass.) handled the stroke row and Tim Joffe (Boynton Beach, Fla.) served as the coxswain.
