Camel Men, Women Notch Wins in Varsity Four at Worcester

WORCESTER, Mass.--The Connecticut College rowing teams visited Lake Quinsigamond in Central Massachusetts Saturday for their third week of competition. The Camels notched wins in both the men's and women's varsity four regattas.

In the men's action, the Camels edged the Tufts University Jumbos by one second with a time of 6:57 in a close race. Senior captain Dan Stewart (North Andover, Mass.) handled the stroke row and Tim Joffe (Boynton Beach, Fla.) served as the coxswain. In the women's varsity four, the Camels posted a winning time of 7:48. The Connecticut College B Boat was second in 7:52. The Ithaca Bombers took third place in 8:02. Colby College was fourth in 8:13.

Senior Katie Williams (Clinton, N.Y.) served as the coxswain for the Camels while Jessica Truelove (Bethlehem, Conn.) was seated in the stroke seat. Nancy Wallace (Cos Cob, Conn.), Janan Evans-Wilent (Ithaca, N.Y.) were joined by Mara Hochman (Santa Rosa, Calif.) in the bow seat.

The Camels finished four seconds behind Ithaca in the novice eight division as the runners up with a time of 7:13.

Rachel Levy (Portland, Maine) was the coxswain. Jenny Cochrane (Hingham, Mass.) handled the stroke row. Lucy Frye (Wenham, Mass.), Mary Fergus (San Francisco, Calif.), Emily Perry (Westfield, N.J.), Hannah Brassord (Amherst, Mass.), Katrina Sereiko (Wellesley, Mass.) and Sarah Brodsky (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) were joined by Heidi Carothers (Sutter, Calif.) in the bow seat.
