Second Varsity Four & Novice Four Post Wins for Camel Women Men´s Varsity Four Places Second

WORCESTER, Mass.--The Connecticut College rowing teams opened the spring season with a regatta on Lake Quinsigamond in Central Massachusetts Saturday. The Camel women's rowing team posted two wins while the men placed second in their regatta.

In the men's varsity four regatta, senior captain Dan Stewart (North Andover, Mass.) and the Camels placed second with a time of 7:28.3. Connecticut College finished 10.5 seconds behind Amherst, who won the race in 7:18.8. Franklin Pierce University was third (7:44.2) and Clark University took fourth place.

In the women's second varsity four, the Camels posted a time of 8:34 in a convincing victory against Amherst and Clark University. The Camels B Boat was second in 8:57.4. The Lord Jeffs of Amherst College were the closest competition, finishing third with a time of 9:05.6 seconds.

Sophomore Robin Ly (Lexington, Mass.) served as the coxswain. Miriam Singer (Lyndhurst, Oh.) handled the stroke row. Jenna Fitch (Lakeville, Conn.) and Flora Drury (Vinalhaven, Maine) were joined by Jessica Freeland (Westport, Conn.) in the bow seat.

In the women's novice four, the Camels topped Simmons and Amherst with a winning time of 8:19.3. The Sharks of Simmons placed second, finishing 35.5 seconds off of the winning pace in 8:54.8.

Arianna Puleo (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) was the coxswain for the Camels. Lesley Gaughan (Weston, Mass.) sat in the stroke seat. Kayla Erikson (Goshen, Conn.) and Alex Heilman (Wayland, Mass.) were joined by Abbe Schickner (Norwich, Vt.) in the bow seat.

In the women's varsity four, the Camels finished 7.1 seconds off the winning pace with a time of 8:39.1. Simmons won the race in 8:32. Franklin Pierce (8:52.1) and Clark (9:57.8) took third and fourth place.

Senior Katie Williams (Clinton, N.Y.) served as the coxswain for the Camels while Jessica Truelove (Bethlehem, Conn.) was seated in the stroke seat. Nancy Wallace (Cos Cob, Conn.), Janan Evans-Wilent (Ithaca, N.Y.) were joined by Mara Hochman (Santa Rosa, Calif.) in the bow seat.

The Camels placed second in the novice eight division with a time of 9:31.3. Simmons College posted a winning time of 8:49.0. Clark was third with a time of 10:21.1.

Rachel Levy (Portland, Maine) was the coxswain. Jenny Cochrane (Hingham, Mass.) handled the stroke row. Lucy Frye (Wenham, Mass.), Mary Fergus (San Francisco, Calif.), Emily Perry (Westfield, N.J.), Hannah Brassord (Amherst, Mass.), Katrina Sereiko (Wellesley, Mass.) and Sarah Brodsky (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) were joined by Heidi Carothers (Sutter, Calif.) in the bow seat.
