President Leo I. Higdon Jr. poses with international students at Connecticut College
December 01, 2008
On Sunday, "The Providence Journal" published an opinion piece by President Leo I. Higdon Jr. about the importance of international experiences for today´s college students. In the piece, President Higdon advises prospective students to look beyond traditional study-abroad programs to ensure they attend a college that offers a broad range of options for international study and cultural immersion.
"Many college students today take advantage of semester-long study abroad programs, and their education benefits tremendously from this international experience. But there are many other ways students can benefit from an international experience, for shorter periods or without leaving campus at all," Higdon wrote.
"These types of immersion experiences deepen the intellectual discussion in the classroom and throughout campus, and foster a global perspective among students," he added.
