Abby Hine Named NESCAC Player of the Week
Abby Hine ยด11 was Honored as the NESCAC Player of the Week Monday. Hine Scored Four Goals in Two Games for the Camels Last Week.

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Connecticut College sophomore Abby Hine of Madison, Conn. has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Player of the Week.
Hine tallied the first hat-trick of her collegiate career Wednesday afternoon, propelling the Camels to a 3-2 victory at Wellesley College. Wellesley´s stingy defense had surrendered just two goals in their previous four games. Hine scored her sixth goal of the season in a NESCAC game at Bates Saturday.
Hine has erupted with five goals in her past three games and leads the Camels with six goals and 12 points. The Camels have heated up as they head into the month of October, winning three of their last four outings, improving to 3-5 this fall.
Hine made an indelible and immediate impact in her rookie season with the program, leading the club with eight goals, six assists and 22 points. She was honored as the Camels´ most valuable forward.Connecticut College head coach Debbie Lavigne is pleased with Hine´s development on the field and the recognition she is receiving in her second year of the program.
"The NESCAC player of the week is a tremendous honor, and Abby is very deserving of the award," Lavigne said. "It brings about positive attention to Connecticut College and the field hockey program. There are so many outstanding athletes in the NESCAC and the competition for player of the week is outstanding. Abby is a stand out player and I am thrilled she is this week´s pick!"
Hine contributed to the success of the women´s ice hockey program, scoring four goals in her rookie season for the Camels. She had two goals in her team´s tie with Hamilton College January 11, 2008.
In the classroom, Hine has excelled as a Dean´s List Student majoring in Human Development. Hine is a 2007 graduate of the Taft School in Watertown, Conn. She received letters in field hockey, ice hockey and lacrosse as a Rhino. Hine garnered All-New England honors while serving as a team captain for the field hockey squad that reached the semi-finals in their post-season championship tournament.
The Camels will host two games in New London this week. Thursday afternoon, Connecticut College will meet Babson in a 4:30 p.m. contest. The Camels will face-of f against NESCAC rival Bowdoin College this Saturday.
