The Camels Qualified for the Atlantic Coast Championship with Their Third Place Finish in the Danmark Trophy Regatta

NEW LONDON, Conn. --The Connecticut College coed sailing team, ranked #11 in the Intercollegiate Sailing Association National Poll, has qualified for the Atlantic Coast Championship. The Camels stamped their ticket to the ACC by placing third with a score of 160 points in the 20 team field at the Danmark Trophy Regatta that was held on the Thames River this weekend.
Boston College won the regatta with a score of 107 points. St. Mary´s of Maryland scored 143 points en route to a second place finish in the regatta. The Camels will visit Hobart College the weekend of November 14-15 to compete in the Championship.
Seniors Charlie Modica (Hobe Sound, Fla.) and Sarah Shear (Worcester, Mass.) teamed up for a third place finish with a score of 80 points in the A division. In the B division, Bob Willis (Chicago, Ill.) and Marina Gluckman (New York, N.Y.) matched their teammate´s performance, scoring 80 points in a critical third place finish.
The Camels notched a victory in the Harvard University Invitational. The freshmen duo of Ben Bainbridge (West Hartford, Conn.) and Katie St. George (Marblehead, Mass.) scored seven points en route to a second place finish in the A division. Peter Miller (Paget, Bermuda) and Claire Sacco (Glenmont, N.Y.) cruised to victory in the B division, scoring eight points for the Camels.
Connecticut College competed in the George Warren Smith Trophy Regatta that was hosted by MIT. The Camels finished ninth in the 27 team field with a score of 206 points.
Tufts University won the regatta with a score of 105 points. Boston College was the runner up with 116 points. The Harvard University Crimson finished third, tallying 126 points in the regatta.
Sophomores Alex Olt (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and Katrina Salk (Jamestown, R.I.) scored 120 points in a 12th place performance in the A division. In the B division, Max Rollins (Newport Beach, Calif.) and Alexandra Wolf (Brookline, Mass.) scored 86 points in an eighth place finish for the Camels.
The Camels finished fifth in the 11 team field at the Southern Series Four Regatta at Yale.
The Rhode Island Rams topped the field with a score of 188 points. Dartmouth College (198) and Salve Regina (218) finished in second and third place in the regatta. The Camels finished with 249 points. Senior Nat Taylor (Marblehead, Mass.), Kevin Lau-Hanson (Larchmont, N.Y.), Katie St. George and Stephen Sweriduk (Providence, R.I.) contributed for the Camels in the regatta
The 13th ranked Connecticut College women´s sailing team competed in the Regis Bowl at Boston University. The Camels finished ninth in the field of 16 teams with a score of 128 points. The host Terriers won the regatta with a score of 59 points. Dartmouth College scored 76 points to finish second. Boston College scored 95 points to place third overall.
