Connecticut College Arboretum to host botanical arrangement workshop
September 24, 2008
NEW LONDON, Conn. - Connecticut College Arboretum will host a botanical arrangement workshop Oct. 11 with Carol King, garden writer and lecturer.
The workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at Connecticut College's Olin Science Center lounge. Registration is required and space is limited.
The workshop is designed to help participants create a perfect botanical arrangement to complement an exact spot or décor. Each student will take home a "perfect" arrangement, using readily available materials. Once the techniques are learned, they can be adapted to different seasons and to whatever plant material is available. Participants will also learn the importance of good foliage, how to make flowers last longer and about proportion.
Registered participants should bring a suitable opaque container with a wide mouth. All the other materials will be provided by the Arboretum. The cost is $30 for Arboretum members and $36 for the general public. For further information or to register, call 860-439-5060.
