Connecticut College to host arts performances in October

NEW LONDON, Conn. - Connecticut College will be alive with music, theater and dance this October with performances that stretch boundaries and invite discussion.
All events are open to the public and will take place on the Connecticut College campus. Events include:
• "Language of Angels," a Connecticut College Department of Theater student production which relates a cycle of eerie ghost stories set in the cave country of North Carolina. Performances are Thursday, Oct. 2, and Friday, Oct. 3, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 4, at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m., in the Tansill Theater. Tickets are $8 for general admission, $6 for students.
• The Department of Music will host the Connecticut College Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. in Evans Hall, Cummings Arts Center. Tickets are $5 for general admission, $3 for students and seniors and free for Connecticut College students.
• The Amelia Piano Trio, featuring violinist Anthea Kreston, cellist Jason Duckles and pianist Rieko Aizawa, will perform Friday, Oct.17, at 8 p.m. in Evans Hall, Cummings Arts Center. The concert will include pieces from Dvorak, Bernstein and Debussy. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for students and seniors and free for Connecticut College students.
• David Dorfman Dance will perform "Disavowel" on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 8 p.m. in Palmer Auditorium. An onStage at Connecticut College production, "Disavowel" is inspired by the life and legacy of abolitionist John Brown, and is a critical examination of how conditions of white supremacy, racism, violence, alienation and calls for solidarity reap hope and fear, courage and pain, pride and dispossession. Tickets are $26, 21, 16 for general admission; $23.50, 19, 14 for seniors and $13, 10.50, 8 for students. Call 860-439-ARTS for more information.
• The Halloween Faculty Concert, sponsored by the Connecticut College Department of Music and featuring organist John Anthony, will be held Friday, Oct. 31, at 8 p.m. in Harkness Chapel. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for students and seniors and free for Connecticut College students.
