ABC News Analyst Cokie Roberts to speak at Connecticut College Sept. 17

NEW LONDON, Conn. - World-renowned broadcasting journalist and author Cokie Roberts will speak about the 2008 election and "The Politics of Change" Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. in Evans Hall, Cummings Arts Center at Connecticut College.
Roberts has covered Congress, politics and public policy for nearly 20 years at ABC News. She also serves as senior news analyst for National Public Radio, where she was the congressional correspondent for more than 10 years. Roberts has won countless awards, including three Emmys, has been inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame and was cited by the American Women in Radio and Television as one of the 50 greatest women in the history of broadcasting. A regular roundtable analyst for "The Week with George Stephanopoulos, Roberts also works as a political commentator for ABC news and serves an on-air analyst for the network. She was also on the floor of the 2008 Republican and Democratic National Conventions.
Her talk, which is free and open to the public, is the inaugural Suzi Oppenheimer '56 Lecture. The Oppenheimer lecture series encourages young people, especially women, to get involved in politics. Oppenheimer is an 11-term senator representing Westchester County in the New York Senate. Following the lecture, Roberts's book will be available for purchase and she will stay on to sign autographs.
