Media Advisory: Connecticut College Reunion Weekend

NEW LONDON, Conn. - Connecticut College's annual alumni reunion is this weekend, May 30 - June 1. Reunion usually draws 800-1,000 alumni and guests back to campus.
This year, events planned for alumni include hot air balloon rides, a carnival and clambake, class receptions and dinners and a parade through campus. Several faculty will present "Back to Class" sessions related to their research, with topics ranging from hip-hop dance to the psychology of investing.
The schedule is as follows:
Friday, May 30
- Noon, Martha Joynt Kumar '63, a Towson University professor who specializes is presidential communications, will speak at an alumni lunch. Media interested in talking with Kumar or covering her presentation should contact the college.
- 5 p.m., reunion carnival with a Moonwalk, games, face painting and arts and crafts on Knowlton Green.
- 5 - 7 p.m., hot air balloon rides on Knowlton Green
- 5:30 - 7:45, New England clambake on Knowlton Green
Saturday, May 31
- 10:30 a.m., alumni parade, beginning in front of Blaustein Humanities Center
- Noon - 1:30 p.m., family style picnic on Knowlton Green
- 2:15 p.m., Family Arboretum Tour, departing from main Arboretum entrance on Williams St.
- 2:30 p.m., Alumni Wiffle ball game, Harkness green.
- 3:15 p.m., Susan Thomases '65, a friend of and advisor to Hilary Clinton, will moderate a Class of 1973 discussion on work, careers, public service and retirement. Media wishing to cover the discussion should contact the college.
- 8 p.m., Emmy-winning journalist Jeffrey Toobin, author of The Nine: Inside the Secret World of the Supreme Court, will speak at Evans Hall, Cummings Arts Center. The talk is free and open to the public.
