NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College senior Lindsey Coit of South Portland, Maine and sophomore Jenna Ross of Longmeadow, Mass. have been named to the All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's lacrosse team.
A leader and team tri-captain for the past two years, Coit is making her second consecutive appearance on the All-NESCAC squad. She reached a career milestone in the team's 17-15 conference victory against Williams April 23, notching her 100th point with the program.
Coit completed her career with 75 goals, 30 assists, 105 points, 115 ground balls, 81 draw controls and 76 caused turnovers. In the classroom, as an economics and anthropology major, Coit has distinguished herself as a Dean's List student with high honors.
Connecticut College head coach Heather McClelland commended Coit for her leadership and contributions to one of the most improved teams in the region.
"Lindsey once again was the heart of our midfield this year," McClelland stated. "Like anyone else, she has her off days, but even on those off days she makes things happen and she finds a way to impact the game. Lindsey's ability and drive make her very deserving of this recognition as one of the top players in the league."
Ross' athleticism and quick stick kept the Camels in contention against some of the toughest competition in the region. A burgeoning two-sport standout in soccer and lacrosse, Ross had 16 saves in a 14-7 conference victory against a nationally ranked Tufts team March 26. She averaged 17 saves per start in the final three NESCAC games of the season.
"Jenna is probably the most naturally gifted athlete I have worked with," McClelland stated. "She has great vision and game sense, and a spot-on clear that sparked much of our midfield transition this season. In addition to her ability, she has become a strong leader on our defensive end. Most exciting, though, is her potential - and as only a sophomore, she's got a lot of lacrosse left to play."
