Connecticut College 8, Colorado College 6 Brug Named to All-Tournament Team for Camels

Connecticut College´s Lauren Brug Completed a Stellar Senior Season with 64 Goals for the Camels. In Sunday´s 8-6 Victory Against Colorado College, Brug Scored Two of Her Three Goals in the Fourth Quarter, Propelling the Camels to Their Eighth Win of the Season. At the Conclusion of Sunday´s Action, Brug Was Tabbed to the All-Tournament Team for the Camels

NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College women´s water polo team (8-15) closed out the 2008 season with an 8-6 victory against the Colorado College Tigers to finish seventh in the Division III Championship held at Lott Natatorium in New London. Lauren Brug (Ventura, Calif.) tallied a hat-trick in the triumph, completing a stellar senior season with 64 goals scored. Brug was named to the All-Tournament team for the Camels.

Junior Emma Heishman (Boiling Springs, Pa.) scored the trifecta with three goals of her own. Sarah Lindsay (Walnut Creek, Calif.) and Phoebe Bakanas (Redding, Conn.) contributed scores for the hosts.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Kohnstam (Portland, Conn.) had 12 saves for the victors.

The Camels trailed 6-5 as they headed into the final quarter of regulation. With 7:14 remaining, Brug supplied the equalizer. Later on with 4:31 to go, Bakanas buried her 59th marker of the spring and the Camels gained a 7-6 lead they would not relinquish. Brug added an insurance goal with 3:23 to play and the hosts were able to hold on for the 8-6 victory.

Connecticut College Roundup from Friday and Saturday The Camels dropped a pair of matches in the Division III Championship at Lott Natatorium Saturday. Carthage College defeated the Camels 8-6 in a morning match-up. In their second match of the day, the Camels came up on the short end of a 10-6 game against Grove City of Pennsylvania.

Senior Lauren Brug and Emma Heishman netted three goals apiece in Saturday´s action. Senior captain Sarah Lindsay and Phoebe Bakanas contributed with two scores. Sophomore net-minder Jordan Kohnstam had 20 saves in the two matches. The Connecticut College women´s water polo team dropped its first two matches in the Division III Championship at Lott Natatorium Friday. Sophomore sharpshooter Phoebe Bakanas contributed five goals to lead the Camels in the two matches. In the early match, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps toppled the Camels 15-4. Bakanas had a hat-trick in the match and senior sharp shooter Lauren Brug added a single tally for the Camels. Jordan Kohnstam made seven saves in the cage.

In the afternoon pairing, the University of California-Santa Cruz earned a 17-4 victory against the Camels. Bakanas had two goals for the hosts. Senior captain Sarah Lindsay and Lauren Brug chipped in with scores.
